Next weekend the Taste of Carlow takes place. This is part of Carlow 800 celebrating the anniversary of the construction of Carlow Castle. As part of the festival we are running the inaugural Carlow Chefs Culinary Challenge.
This challenge involves six talented battling it out over two nights (Sat/Sun next ) to determine who will be the champion.
The aim of the challenge is to promote food tourism, and local produce and producers from Carlow and the region.
So the chefs will be using all local and Irish produce where possible. Produce will be supplied from the local Carlow Farmers market and our local Supervalu store.
The first evening of competition chefs will have to produce a two course meal from a mystery of local ingredients.
The second evening they have to produce a main course for two based on classic Irish ingredients of their choice.
As well as the Farmers market and Supervalu the main sponsors of the event are three local Carlow companies, the Catering Innovation Agency, Swan Electrical and Terry Smith kitchens.
Free entry to all in what should be a great event for all food lovers and wannabe Jamie Olivers.
Time: 6pm-8pm Sat and Sun next
Location: Carlow Town Hall, Centaur Street, Carlow town
